My Art Today

Dear Gentle Readers,
Today I created a country platter hanging on a wall as one would find in a country cottage or a dinner. The cobalt blue ring around the rim of the platter is quite traditional. This shade of blue can be found on vintage and antique dishes. The best know of these patterns with the cobalt blue is the Blue Willow and the Flow Blue vintage dishes.
Traditionally, the dishes that were created in the cobalt blue had white to cream backgrounds and the design was only in the blue. A few designs can be found that had flowers in a contrasting color but these are not as well known. I created the roses in rose tones of red with a variation of the red tone to match the bow above the platter.
Few platters were hung with a bow above them but my design featuring the bow above the platter needed an aesthetic balance. I created one image with the words "Thinking of you" so that a purchase of a throw pillow or greeting card could be given to a friend especially in a time when a friend might need to know and be reminded that they are not being forgotten.
I created the design with various background colors so that a purchaser might find the color that is represented in their kitchen, breakfast nook or dining room. Enjoy observing art!
