Fun on a Rainy Day with Beauty
Dear reader,
Today I will tell you a short story about a girl whose uncle bought her some rain boots with roses on them. It was not raining outside but she longed to wear the pretty boots to school so badly she begged her mom to let her wear them to school. In a good mood her mother said, "Okay."
On the way to school she saw her aunt who stopped her and said, "You look so lovely with your rain boots on I want to give you an umbrella I bought at the gift shop this morning. It will match your rose rain boots."
The little girl smiled and said, "Thank you my dear aunty but it is not raining."
Her aunt said to her, "You will be so lovely that the sky will see you in your rain boots and lovely umbrella and start to cry with joy to see the rosey beauty."
So the little girl's aunt gave her the umbrella and a cookie and sent her on the way to school. The sky did look down on the pretty sight and started dripping drops of joyful rain. The little girl was so delightful to see that when she hopped into her classroom with all her roses, her teacher said, "I declare today a day of roses and laughter." All the children started to laugh and the girl laughed, too.
On the way home from school the little girl jumped into every puddle of rain she passed and soon she had two frogs jumping behind her. The frogs said, "Ribbep, you look so lovely that we wanted to join in your fun."
She looked at the frogs and said, "You may."
When the little girl got home she leaned the umbrella up against the wall, still open. Her umbrella vase was pretty but the umbrella was prettier and she wanted to remember "Rose day" a little bit longer. Then she took off her rain boots and put them under the umbrella.
The little girl's mother looked at the pretty umbrella and the boots and said, "It sure was a good day for roses and rain. Now go to bed and dream of roses. Good night."
